What a chip key is
A transponder or chip key has a small chip in its head that talks to the car's immobilizer. Without the right code the engine will not start, even if the blade is cut correctly. Programming pairs the new chip with your car.
Fobs and smart keys
- Remote head keys with lock and unlock buttons
- Flip or switchblade keys
- Proximity fobs for push-button start
- Replacement shells for worn or broken fobs
Replacing all lost keys
If every key is gone, a new one can be generated from vehicle information and programmed. Old keys can often be removed from the car's memory so a lost key no longer starts it.
Price
New vehicle keys and transponder key programming start at $100.00 plus the $29.00 service call fee. Every key is built differently, so the final price depends on the cut and programming required. New car keys carry a 30-day warranty. See the price list.
